Kirant Festival Udhauli 2014
The meeting of Kirant Society NSW for the preparation of Kirant Festival Udhauli 2014 which was held on 26th of October 2014 at Senior Citizen Hall Ashbury and concluded the structures of the festival and formally prepared a task distribution and food contribution list.
Being the first generation of our Kiranti clan in this distant land, the way how we preserve our culture & tradition will have direct impact to our offspring and their offspring for generations to come. Hence, we must understand that our children can only pass our tradition to their children unless they have some knowledge about it and the only way to teach them is being practical about implementing it. Kirant Festival Udhauli is one of the best practical platforms to teach and learn our culture and tradition. The message what we pass to our children obviously helps a lot to preserve our tradition and culture in our newly adapted home “Australia”. We might not be as perfect as our respected elders back home in Nepal but with the blessings of Paruhang/Sumnima & Theba/Yuma, we are definitely learning and improving something better each and every year. In the past eleven years of celebration of this festival here in Sydney, we are definitely heading towards the right direction in preserving our unique culture & tradition in this far far away City.
This time we are celebrating our Udhauli festival exactly on the day of Mangsire Purnima i.e. Saturday, December 06, 2014. Please take note of the date and copy in diary so that you can arrange a day off if your job is a shift work. Following are the detail of upcomingKirant Festival Udhauli 2014.
Day & Date: Saturday December 06, 2014
Time: 12:00 noon till 7:30 pm
Venue: Tempe Recreation Reserve, Lot 7022, Holbeach Avenue, Tempe, NSW 2044 (please see the attached google map)
(Only 10-15 minutes walking distance from either Tempe train station or Wolli Creek train staition).
